Personal Abstract “Who You Are” Denim Apparel
My journey into textured mixed-media art began long before I ever placed denim on a canvas.
When I was in high school, I worked at the clothing store Buckle, where I was surrounded every day by denim. At first it was simply part of the job—learning about the different styles, the stretch and elasticity of the fabric, and how each pair of jeans was created through unique washes and textures. Over time, I began to appreciate denim in a deeper way. Every piece carried its own personality, history, and character.
Years later I became a denim specialist, and my understanding of the fabric continued to grow. What fascinated me most was how denim transforms over time—how the fibers soften, the color evolves, and the material tells a story through wear and experience. That idea of transformation eventually found its way into my artwork.
I began experimenting with denim as a creative material, layering it with acrylic paint and natural elements such as burlap, sand, shells, and stones. What started as curiosity quickly became a defining part of my artistic process. Today, denim is more than just a material in my work—it is a symbol. It represents resilience, history, texture, and the beauty of something ordinary becoming extraordinary.
By combining denim with layered mixed media, I create sculptural surfaces that bring movement and dimension to the canvas. Each piece evolves slowly as textures build and interact with light, creating artwork that invites people to experience it both visually and emotionally.
Custom Painted Denim Wear:
Long before I began creating textured paintings, I also loved helping people express themselves through fashion. One of my favorite experiences while working as a personal shopper was getting to know each client’s unique style and personality. Everyone carries something special within them—whether it is boldness, creativity, strength, or a quiet confidence—and clothing can become a reflection of that inner identity. Sometimes what we wear represents who we already are. Other times, it represents who we are becoming. This is one of the reasons I love creating custom painted denim apparel, something I call “Who You Are” Denim Wear. Each piece is designed to reflect individuality and self-expression—something unique, a bit edgy, noticeable, and meaningful to the person wearing it.
Custom pieces may include:
• Jackets
• Jeans
• Boots
• Other denim apparel
Every design is created specifically for the person who will wear it, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind. To create a custom denim piece, you simply provide the item and I will paint it for you. I also offer a personal shopping experience, where I can help select the perfect denim piece based on your size, style, and personality. Life can be busy, and sometimes it helps to have someone with an artistic eye find that special piece for you. A Creative Philosophy
Whether I am creating sculptural artwork for a wall or painting denim that someone will wear, the intention is the same—to transform simple materials into something expressive, meaningful, and alive with personality.
Art, like life, is an adventure into the unknown.
Allow your personal inspiration to reflect your inner purpose.
